About Dean Nelson

     Dean C. Nelson  (608) 347-0784

Grew up and worked on the family farm outside of Waseca, Minnesota until 1966 when I enlisted in the U.S. Navy. The first two years in the Navy I served on the Ammunition Ship USS Pyro and the Oiler USS Mispillion and made three West-Pac cruises to the Tonkin Gulf.  The final year I trained for advanced combat duty and served on River Patrol Boats (PBR’s) from October 1968 until October 1969 when my Navy enlistment period ended when I still only 20 years old. During my one year tour in Viet Nam I made 120 combat missions on the Mekong River Delta system to check river traffic for VC suspects and contraband as well as interdict enemy troops from crossing and attacking area land and fire bases. During this one year our units took 70% casualties due to the enemy ambushes and fire fights caused by surprising enemy troop movements during patrols. Of the 70% casualties, only two out of eigthy were killed but many of my boat mates were wounded bad enough to get sent home early.  It was just pure dumb luck I did not get hit too. My life has been all gravy ever since.

Now I am owner/operator of Accelerated Wealth Management (AWM) of Madison, WI.  Trained in mortgage and finance, life and annuity insurance products as well as a consultant to small business owners over a 35 year period. I have used my past experiences to start AWM as a Money Performance Specialist using the Money Merge Account from United First Financial Inc., as our signature product to provide an accelerated solution to debt elimination and cash accumulation using risk free investing.  With the introduction of new technology and money mangement techniques, we are able to help individuals and small businesses optimize cash-flow to accelerate debt elimination to start the wealth building process much sooner than thougth possible. By using available cash-flow on a day by day, month by month basis and using the principles of no stagnant money and strategic pay off of debt, we can help our clients cancel out huge amounts of interest charges.  Once debt is eliminated sooner that anticipated, our clients can take the money they were making on monthly payments and build substantial savings with fixed, no downside investments that will accumulate wealth for college educations for their children and money to supplement whatever retirement plans already in place. It is a strategy people despartely need at this time now that home values have leveled off and the equity markets are so unstable.

Personally I have been very blessed to have been married to my Madison raised and wonderful wife Barbara for 32 years.  Together we have a son Luke and daughter inlaw Amalie and a new five month old grandaughter Avery. Our daughter Katherine and son inlaw Merv, have a home near Morgantown, West Virginia.  Our youngest son Michael attended North Dakota State University on a basketball scholarship and has graduatied and is now playing professional basketball in the NBADL with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. We have made our home on the west side of Madison Wisconsin for the past 33 years.

My many interests outside of work have very much involved basketball ever since I can remember.  It is a game I truly love to watch but love to play it even more.  I am still regularly playing pick up basketball at the University of Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Sports Center which I have been doing since I moved to the area in 1973. I have also enjoyed very much coaching my three children in the sports they played during their childhood and youth sports days.  I spent thousands of hours on soccer fields, little league diamonds, softball fields and of course gymnaisiums over the years and loved every minute of it.  I also love fishing trips in northern Wisconsin, some golf in the summer with my sons, rock climbing and white water rafting with my daughter and watching the NDSU Bision, Badgers, Packers, Bucks and Brewers.
